Day 12

Two photos today... This morning, after returning from errands, Michaela informs me that "this photo" is my 365 photo. I informed her that it needs to be one that I've taken to which she replied, "Oh." She doesn't know this, but I thought it would be fun to have a "guest photographer" today along with my normal 365. :) Without further ado...

Day 11

I finally nabbed a shot of Michaela when she wasn't expecting it. She was engrossed in a book. I teased her when she went to scratch her ear and got a great natural smile. I love it when shots aren't posed or forced!

Day 10

It's Logan's 2nd birthday, so he is the focus on pictures today.

This is him pretending to talk on my mom's cell phone while riding in his Cozy Coupe...

Day 9

How can a mother resist this face?

Day 8

Long & rough day, so didn't put much effort into picture taking. That said, I still like that I captured Logan driving his fancy new Lightning McQueen car over Daddy...

Day 7

One week already... Who would have thought I'd have so much fun with this project? Already, I've been looking at ordinary scenes differently, wondering how I can capture it on camera. I LOVE that!!

Logan has a thing for bellies these days & he's always quick to show off his... Captured forever.

Another one that is just totally precious - Great-Grandma & Great-Grandson...

Day 6

Yesterday was spent at Mike's grandparents for a family reunion. When we returned home & I downloaded the pictures off the camera, I couldn't believe I had taken 50... I think this project has gotten under my skin! :)

Since I couldn't pick one, here are a few of my favorites... Will be adding more today or tomorrow from today's part of the reunion.

Day 5

The exposure is off, but I still love the image. Live & learn with apertures & F stops right? :)

Day 4 - Part II

After bathing Molly, Ava & Logan got busy and played in the water left over on our sidewalk. I decided to take advantage & play around with composition. Sometimes the less obvious shots make a more interesting photograph.

Day 4

Today was Color Day at Michaela's school. I think about the only thing I did for this picture was set it from Auto to Portrait. Fast shooting was the goal of the morning since it was crazy hectic! Just love how this shot turned out.

Day 3 - Part II

Decided to explore the little A95 while Logan ate dinner. Found out the ISO setting is 400 max - eek! Ah well... New camera has shipped, so I should be in camera heaven quite soon.

These 3 shots were all taken with the same settings: ISO 400, 1/30, F3.5. I set the camera to B/W for two & sepia for the third. I just love the look on his face in the happy B/W shot; the cranky face in the other B/W. The sepia was just messing around while he scarfed down a hot dog and mac & cheese. (Oh, and please pardon the noise in all three shots... Once I get the new Canon, I'll actually have higher ISO capabilities! Woo hoo!)

Day 3

I tried experimenting with the little A95 and put it on manual. I took several shots & I wish I could remember exactly what I did for each. Oh well... I know this one I shot with a fairly wide aperture (I think it was around f2.8) and a long shutter speed (about 1.5). Just playing around & I've done nothing to retouch the image, but resize. I need to learn from my mistakes, right? If nothing else, I like the composition. :)

Day 2

Logan loves his cars and trucks. Passionately. I have never seen a child get so engrossed in toys before. This morning, when he grabbed a small car (believe it was Doc from Cars) and his big fire truck and started playing with them on the radiator (as per normal), I had to capture it. This is just such a purely Logan shot...

Day 1

Michaela had just woken up. Her hair was tousled, sleepy eyes, hugging her Bear and blanket tightly to her. She looked adorable.

Project 365

I've heard a lot about Project 365 and thought it sounded like fun. However, for some reason, I got it in my head that I had to start on January 1. Ha! I read a blog yesterday that said start whenever - have fun with it - just do it 365 days in a row & who cares when you start, just that you START!

So, instead of waiting for my precious new camera to arrive (a lovely Canon PowerShot SX10 IS - hubba hubba), I decided to whip out our old PowerShot A95 and just snap a few shots to capture moments. Once I get the SX10 IS, I will really be exploring angles, subject matter, etc. - and everything I shoot will be related, in some way, to a day in the life of our family.
